This small painting is part of a series of two paintings inspired by Venice, with this painting depicting the Rialto Bridge. It is executed in shades of blue and green, while its sister painting, Piazza San Marco, is rendered in shades of red and yellow. Both works combine oil and acrylic paint, creating an interesting contrast between rough and smooth surfaces. In addition, lines have been carved with the back of a brush, adding extra texture and depth. These paintings are important studies in which I experimented with new techniques.
