This small painting is part of a series of two paintings inspired by Venice, with this painting depicting St. Mark's Square. It is executed in shades of red and yellow, while its sister painting, Ponte di Rialto, is rendered in shades of blue and green. Both works combine oil and acrylic paint, creating an interesting contrast between rough and smooth surfaces. In addition, lines have been carved with the back of a brush, adding extra texture and depth. These paintings are important studies in which I experimented with new techniques.
